We know fear leads to anger and anger leads to suffering, but what does Fandom lead to?
Fandom leads to community and friendship! I love how fandom brings people together from all walks of life . I’ve seen it firsthand with Star Wars. Fans come together from all over the world to celebrate their love of Star Wars and oftentimes they don’t even speak the same language. However, Star Wars is a universal language and the joy that these characters and these stories bring us also unite us! I’m SO excited to sail on Comic-Con: The Cruise because I know I will make new friends. Fandom is an instant icebreaker when you meet someone, and fandom also creates lasting bonds.
Your role as Ahsoka Tano has had a lasting effect on generations of fans. How has fandom affected you in turn?
Ahsoka Tano has absolutely changed my life! Not only from a career perspective but more importantly from a purpose perspective. Ahsoka has literally changed the course of my life and she’s inspired me to be the person I am today. Her true power is her kindness and her willingness to help others, no matter what. She is literally the embodiment of light, and she has positively changed me for good. I ask myself daily, “What would Ahsoka do?” because Ahsoka would always do the right thing.
What three things would a guest on Comic-Con: The Cruise need to cosplay as you?
Well, if they are going to cosplay as Ahsoka they will need a lightsaber (green or white would be my choice), Ahsoka head tails (this can be a headpiece of a hairstyle), and some white face paint for her face tattoos. At first glance, Ahsoka seems like a really hard cosplay to pull off and it can be. However, she’s become so identifiable that you can also have fun with your Ahsoka cosplay and make it your own! I’ve only ever cosplayed as Ahsoka one time, and it took me 3 hours to get into full makeup and costume. Now, I just Ahsoka bound, and I play around with my Ahsoka inspired looks! It’s important to just have fun with it!
What current pop culture obsession are you most looking forward to talking with other fans about?
Anything Disney and Wicked! I am a massive Disney fan and an avid Alice in Wonderland collector. I grew up in Orlando, FL, my Dad was a Disney cast member and I was also a Disney cast member. As for Wicked, I’ve always been a fan of the Broadway musical and I am in awe of the movies! I could watch them over and over again.
What are you most looking forward to on Comic-Con: The Cruise?
I’m obsessed with cruising! There’s something about being on a cruise that just forces me to relax and escape. I truly feel at peace out at sea. Then combine that with fandom and that’s my dream combination! Everyone just has a different vibe on a cruise ship and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, hanging out with everyone and making new friends! I’m also a foodie and I cannot wait to try all the food!
