Q: What are you most looking forward to on Comic-Con: The Cruise?
A: I’m looking forward to presenting “An Evening with George Takei” on Comic-Con: The Cruise. This gives me a chance to share my childhood experiences during World War II and reflect on my career as an actor who once navigated the cosmos as Sulu on original Star Trek. It’s a unique opportunity for me to connect with fans on a personal level and explore the narratives that shape our world—both on and off screen.
Q: Is there anyone in particular that you are looking forward to meeting onboard Comic-Con: The Cruise?
A: I was a recurring character on the TV series Heroes, and it is exciting for me to be on a cruise together with Greg Grunberg, who was a cast member on the beloved show that aired on NBC from 2006 to 2010. It will be a fun reunion. This is one of the benefits of Comic-Con: The Cruise. It is a mini convention at sea where fans can reminisce about their favorite series and enjoy the company of the actors who portrayed their favorite characters.
Q: What experiences are you looking forward to boldly sharing with guests on Comic-Con: The Cruise?
A: I’m excited about connecting with fans during intimate moments. Whether it’s posing for photos, signing autographs, exploring the mysteries of Cozumel or other shore excursions, engaging in exclusive onboard activities, or simply sharing stories over a cup of Romulan ale, these personal interactions promise to be an adventure worthy of the final frontier.
It’s boldly going where no convention has gone before—except with sunscreen and a piña colada in hand! May your warp drive be set to maximum fun!
Q: While you’ve steered one of the world’s most famous fictional starships through the universe, you’ve also navigated through some of the real world’s most important historic moments. What pop culture keeps you grounded?
A: I’ve had the privilege of exploring both the final frontier on screen and some pivotal moments in history off screen. What keeps me grounded amidst this is the enduring power of storytelling—whether through the captivating narratives in film and television or the shared human experiences in books and theatre. They remind me that at the heart of all pop culture is our collective journey through life’s triumphs and challenges.
Q: You’ve been an inspirational and aspirational icon who has given so much to your fans over your career—what have they given you?
A: I’ve been fortunate to connect with incredible fans who have generously shared their enthusiasm, support, and encouragement. Their unwavering passion has given me a platform—a megaphone if you will—to amplify important messages and advocate for positive change. It’s a symbiotic relationship, where their energy fuels my purpose.
